Hero Tributes: Honoring Veterans with a Final Mission to Space

Space Beyond announces Hero Tributes, where all Americans can honor US service members and veterans by sponsoring their mission to space. Retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Edward Mix, a 5th Marine Division Iwo Jima Veteran, shares a photograph taken during the Battle of Iwo Jima at a tour of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in commemoration of the 73d Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, Feb 15, 2018. Iwo Jima was a major World War II battle in which the United States Marine Corps landed on and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Imperial Army. Veterans of the battle and their family members were invited to Camp Pendleton for a tour which included a special reaction team static display, Meal Ready to Eat sampling, and a tour of the Assault Craft Unit-5. At Space Beyond, we believe that those who served our country deserve a memorial tribute worthy of their sacrifice.

Hero Tributes is our new program that invites all Americans to sponsor a spaceflight for a U.S. Armed Forces veteran, giving them a final mission to rest among the stars.

Imagine a family gathered in their backyard, holding a photo of their hero, a veteran whose courage shaped their lives. They gaze upward at the starry night sky as their loved one soars overhead in space. This is the vision behind Hero Tributes.

As Memorial Day approaches, we reflect on the courage and sacrifice of our service members. Hero Tributes offers a timeless way to honor their legacy, launching their memory into orbit as an enduring symbol of gratitude for years to come.

A Veteran’s Final Mission

For just $249, you can sponsor a veteran’s journey to space. Your sponsorship funds the spaceflight of a hero you may never have known, but whose service helped protect the freedoms that we all share.

We work with trusted veteran organizations to identify recipients from all branches and eras of military service. Once a veteran is selected, their family or custodian sends us a symbolic portion of their remains. We integrate it onto a satellite and launch it into orbit

It’s their final mission, your gesture of gratitude, and our way of honoring those who served.
