Privacy Policy
Space Beyond is a small company with a big goal: making a memorial in space something every family can afford. When you trust us with your information, and especially with the name of someone you love, you deserve to know exactly what happens to it. This page is longer than we’d like. We’d rather be thorough than leave you guessing.
Space Beyond runs the Ashes to Space website at ashestospace.com. When this policy says “we” or “us,” it means Space Beyond, LLC.
What we collect
Information you give us:
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and mailing address.
- Order details: what you bought, when you bought it, and your shipping and billing information.
- Honoree details: the name of the person or pet you’re honoring, plus any tribute content you share with us, like a message or story.
- Form answers: what you enter in our Remembrance Roster and Ashtronaut Tribute forms.
- Messages: anything you send us through our contact form, by email, or through Messenger on our Facebook page.
- Story calls: if you agree to a recorded video call about your experience with us, we keep the recording.
Payment details go straight to Stripe, our payment processor. We don’t see or store your full card number.
Information collected when you visit our website:
- Your IP address, device type and browser
- The pages you visit and how you click, scroll and move through them
- How you found us, such as an ad, a search result or an affiliate link
- Whether you signed up for something or made a purchase
This information comes from cookies, pixels and similar tools. The cookies section below explains them.
How we use it
- To fulfill your order. We prepare and ship your kit and get your tribute onto the spacecraft.
- To keep you updated. We email you at each step, from receiving your kit through launch and deployment in orbit.
- To send our newsletter and guides. If you sign up, we email you about memorial spaceflight, our missions and our services. You can unsubscribe anytime.
- To answer your questions and help when something goes wrong.
- To improve our website.
- To measure our advertising. We look at which ads lead to visits, signups and purchases.
- To show relevant ads, and to avoid showing ads to people who are already customers.
- To credit our affiliates when they refer a sale, so they’re paid correctly.
- To learn from client stories, when a client agrees to a story call.
We use honoree details only to prepare your tribute and keep you updated. We never use them for advertising.
We don’t send marketing text messages. We use your phone number only for your order and its delivery.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with companies that help us run Space Beyond. They handle it on our behalf to provide their services to us.
Orders and payments
- WooCommerce runs our online store and keeps order records on our website.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Shipping carriers deliver kits and anything else we mail to you.
Email, forms and customer records
- Brevo sends our emails and newsletters.
- HubSpot holds our customer records, runs our website contact form and tracks website visits.
- Tally runs our Remembrance Roster and Ashtronaut Tribute forms.
- Zapier moves information between the tools on this list so they stay in sync.
- Zoom hosts client story calls and stores the recordings.
Website analytics
- Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) shows us how visitors use our site.
- Microsoft Clarity shows us how visitors click, scroll and move through pages, so we can find and fix problems.
- Refersion tracks which affiliate referred a visit or sale. Affiliates don’t see your name or email address.
Advertising
- Google Ads measures which of our ads lead to signups and purchases.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) does the same through the Meta Pixel on our website. Our systems also send signup and purchase events directly to Meta for the same purpose. Messages you send to our Facebook page are handled by Meta as well.
Advertising audiences
We share hashed email addresses of our customers and email subscribers with Google and Meta. Hashing turns each email address into a scrambled code before it’s shared. Google and Meta compare those codes against their own users so they can:
- show our ads to people who may be interested, or
- avoid showing our ads to people who are already customers.
You can ask us to leave you out of these audiences. See “Your choices and rights” below.
Each of these companies has its own privacy policy that covers how it handles information.
Cookies and tracking pixels
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Pixels are tiny pieces of code that let a company know you visited a page. We use them to run the store (like keeping items in your cart), understand how our site is used, measure our ads and credit affiliates.
How to opt out:
Your browser: block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features, like the cart, may stop working.
Google: manage ad personalization at myadcenter.google.com. Block Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Meta: change your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings, or at facebook.com/adpreferences.
Us: email privacy@ashestospace.com to opt out of non-essential tracking on our end.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we have about you
- correct it
- delete it
- leave you out of the advertising audiences we share with Google and Meta
- stop sending you marketing emails (you can also use the unsubscribe link in any email)
Just email privacy@ashestospace.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
One thing is unique to what we do. Once an honoree’s name has been engraved, or ashes have been integrated and sealed into the spacecraft, that part can’t be undone. We can delete our records about you, but we can’t remove what’s already part of the spacecraft.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you ask us to delete it. Many families want updates for the whole mission, which lasts about five years in orbit.
How we protect it
We use standard security (like encryption) to keep your data safe.
No one’s perfect, but we do our best.
Children
Our website is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Visitors outside the United States
We’re based in the United States. Some of the services we use may store information in other countries.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post it here.
