Space Beyond, a bold new startup redefining remembrance, is making space accessible for all with its groundbreaking Ashes to Space service — offering Earth orbit memorials starting at just $249. Families can now secure a place for their loved ones or pets among the stars, ensuring a farewell that lasts, not in the ground, but in the heavens.

From Atlanta to Orbit

Founder Ryan Mitchell earned his Master’s in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2009. After a career spanning NASA’s Space Shuttle program and Blue Origin’s launch facilities, he returned to a simple question: What if space could be part of everyone’s story?
That question became Ashes to Space — the world’s first truly affordable space memorial. Symbolic portions of cremated remains will launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare, orbit Earth for several years, eventually re-entering naturally as a final “shooting star.”

How It Works

Simple: families receive a kit, fill a thimble-sized vial with ashes, and return it. Space Beyond integrates these “Celestial Tributes” onto the spacecraft for launch. Each family receives a digital mission certificate and tracking information to follow their loved one’s orbital path in real time from their smartphones — keeping memories in motion as they rest among the stars.
